Auditor of State Keith Faber announced his office is accepting proposals for a performance audit of the Auditor of State’s office.

State auditors issued 321 public records-related citations to 267 public entities in calendar year 2017 – a 22 percent drop in citations from the prior year, Auditor of State Dave Yost announced today as part of Sunshine Week, a nationwide initiative designed to raise awareness of the importance of open government and public records.

Long, expensive legal battles can be prevented through the new “Sunshine Audit” announced today by Auditor of State Dave Yost. 

Auditor of State Dave Yost reviewed public records policies and procedures of 48 government entities, giving recommendations to 19 for improvements.

The test of 20 counties and cities for Sunshine Law compliance this year returned a mixed bag of results – with 40 percent having weaknesses in their public records policies and procedures.

Sunshine law compliance throughout Ohio will be examined this week at 20 representative counties and cities, Auditor of State Dave Yost announced today. The work fulfills a promise made during Sunshine Week in 2011 to audit public records compliance during the 2012 audit cycle.
